North Yorkshire Honeybees
Raising and supplying locally adapted black bees from our North Yorkshire and Teesside apiaries - calm, hardy and perfectly suited to our weather and wildflowers
North Yorkshire Honey Bees
Local bees, bred for Yorkshire weather.
We are proud to keep and raise the native British black bee (Apis mellifera mellifera), here in our apiaries at the foothills of the North Yorkshire Moors and in the Teeside area.
Hardy, calm, and perfectly adapted to our climate, these bees thrive where they belong—right here in North Yorkshire.
By breeding from our own strong, healthy colonies, we’re helping to preserve and strengthen local genetics for the future. Each season, we make a limited number of nucleus colonies (nucs) available for sale to beekeepers in the local area. Our nucs are raised from proven stock, ready to thrive in Yorkshire conditions, and ideal for anyone who wants bees that are truly suited to this landscape.
We’re Bee Folk — local beekeepers based in North Yorkshire.

We are also proud members of BIBBA (Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders Association.
BIBBA is dedicated to improving and conserving Apis mellifera mellifera, the native honey bee of Britain and Ireland (also known as the European Dark Bee). Their work encourages beekeepers to use locally adapted bees, reducing reliance on imports and supporting stronger, healthier colonies.
